On Sunday, March 9th, NHCS, in collaboration with St. John’s Anglican Church, had the immense honour of hosting a joint event commemorating both the return of the St. John's Parish Register to the St. John's Anglican Church and the Unveiling of a replica of Horatio Nelson's uniform being donated to the NHCS!
Handing-Over Ceremony: After undergoing meticulous restoration by experts at the Borthwick Institute at the University of York, the St. John’s Parish Register was officially returned to its home at St. John's Anglican Church. This treasured document holds records of births, marriages and deaths dating back to the 1700s—including the marriage certificate of Horatio Nelson and Fanny Nisbett!
Unveiling of Horatio Nelson’s Uniform Replica: In the second half of the ceremony, we proudly unveiled a stunning replica of Horatio Nelson’s uniform, generously donated to NHCS by The 1805 Club.
A heartfelt thank you to Her Honour Hyleeta Liburd, the Office of the Premier, Nevis Island Administration, Nevis Cultural Development Foundation, NHCS staff & volunteers, and our dedicated partners at St. John’s Anglican Church Vestry for making this momentous occasion possible.
